John has always worked at the intersection of technology and design. Prior to joining Oracle as a Principal UX Designer for their Global Industry Units, John served as the Director of Digital Marketing and Communications in the Dean’s Office of Carnegie Mellon University's College of Engineering and CMU Silicon Valley where he oversaw strategic marketing communications and design with the goal to help promote research such as autonomous vehicles, 3-D printing heart muscle tissue, and exoskeletons—just to name a few.
Prior to that John served as the Senior Creative Consultant at Simpleview, a technology company that creates award-winning websites, creative, and integrated marketing solutions for over 350+ destinations worldwide. John also served as the Senior Creative Consultant at Digital River, a publicly-traded technology company that provides global ecommerce, payment, and marketing solutions.
John has an MBA in Marketing, Technology, and Innovation from the University of Pittsburgh's Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and a Master's in Design for Interactions from Carnegie Mellon University's School of Design. In graduate school John was a two-time graduate intern at the NASA Langley Research Center where he worked on projects for the Space Mission Analysis Branch and the Advanced Concepts Laboratory. During that time, John was the founding president of both the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) Chapter at Carnegie Mellon University.
John is originally from Western New York and enjoys spending time on Chautauqua Lake with his family. John is also proud member of the NOW Generation at the Chautauqua Institution.
